I have always believed that students shouldn't walk away from a topic after a test/quiz. For that reason I use something I call Rewrites. The students were given the opportunity to back over any and all problems that they got wrong on a test/quiz. If they made corrections according to my expectations, they could earn back some of the points that they lost on the assessment. I used to have my students make corrections with paper and pencil:

It worked great but they often wouldn't get them back from me for a week or so at which time they had forgotten what it was all about. Now, I have my students complete assessment online in a journal. They write their solutions in their online journal. I give them feedback daily until they get it right or time runs out (I usually give them a week.) Here is an example of one such journal assignment.
